learning to be a confident interpreter

Interpretive Training through VMF

Interpreter Mary Aldern visited the Pinto Ranch to train our VMF interpreters in the art of interpretation.

Interpretation is an art form to be sure! We learned the history of interpretation and how to better communicate through hand held objects, development of themes, creating a personal mission statement, and confidence raising activites. Mary's extensive background of 20 years as an interpreter and interpretive trainer helped all VMF docents so that when we work in our visitors center, or help to educate in the schools, or lead hikes on the trail, our skills will better serve the public in helping them to understand and interpret the natural resources on the mountain. An informed public is a conservation aware public.

Please see future trainings that will be available for our volunteers as the year goes on. Our Back Country Visitors Center is opening in October and we will need your help. Please call Kathleen or Colleen at the office if you are interested: 760 765 2300
