On Saturday, December 6th join the San Diego County Parks Mountain Borrego Preserve staff and make your own custom hiking stick.  Meet at 10am at the Santa Ysabel Preserve East Staging Area on Farmer Road (1209 Farmer Road, Julian, CA 92036).  Adventurers of all ages are welcome to join in.  Kids under 12 should be joined by an adult.  Parks staff will provide a variety of branches that are suitable for creating your hiking stick.  In addition, they’ll have hand tools and supplies to decorate your creations.

Afterwards, test out your new hiking stick by exploring along oak and sycamore-lined Santa Ysabel Creek.  There may be still be some fall color.  At 1 ½ miles along the trail, the picnic table by the creek is a lovely spot to stop and have lunch or a snack.

Inclement weather will cancel the event.  Please contact the county rangers at 760-765-4098 for any updates.
