Free September Conservation Art Programs With the Volcan Mountain Foundation - First Outing Sunday, September 8, 2013
Location
Have you ever gotten together with people who had the same appreciation for beautiful fall weather in the mountains, doing something you enjoy, and pursuing a moment creating, laughing, and philosophizing? Wouldn't you love to conserve these feelings, these impressions? Conservation artists are dedicated to the celebration and preservation of the natural world. They support wildlife and habitat conservation, biodiversity, sustainability and environmental education through art.
The Volcan Mountain Foundation (VMF) is introducing Conservation Art Paint Outs on Sunday afternoons in September from 3pm – 6pm. Although called Paint Outs, they’re not just for painters!
Volcan Mountain Wilderness Preserve (park along Farmer Road & meet at the Hubbell Gateway): September 8th and 22nd
Santa Ysabel Preserve East (meet at the Farmer Road staging area): September 15th and 29th
This is the time when the shadows grow long and the sun is not so hot. Bring a backpack of your favorite plein aire art supplies, watercolors, acrylics, oils, pastels, gouache, pencils, etc. with a sack picnic and drinks for a short hike to a spot of your choice. Enjoy art and beauty for a few hours with art-minded people.
These free art outings will be led by artists Jim Lydick, Connie Newgard and Kathleen Beck.
If someone needs a little more direction on any art materials and medium, feel free to call Connie at 619-540-8645. Contact Kathleen Beck, VMF Education Coordinator, (760-765-2548 or VMFEducation@VolcanMt.org) for further details on the outings! Please visit us at www.VolcanMt.org for updates and more information.
