Tuesday, October 21st at 9am, the Volcan Mountain Foundation and Julian’s informal Tuesday morning hiking group are co-hosting a hike and history exploration at VMF’s Volcan Mountain Nature Center (22850 Volcan Road, Julian, CA 92036).  Local historians Ed Huffman and Albert Simonson will share their extensive knowledge of early European settlers who lived on the mountain, including the Grand family.

Later VMF’s Education Coordinator, Kathleen Beck will lead interested hikers on a short (3/4 mile) shady hike on VMF’s new Watershed Trail at the headwaters of Santa Ysabel Creek.  VMF’s Volcan Mountain Nature Center (formerly the Grand family cabin) offers interesting flora, fauna and local cultural exhibits situated among the lush riparian mixed-conifer forest of fir, pine, cedar, and oak, around the headwaters of Santa Ysabel Creek.

Due to gated entry, please RSVP to participate in the Hike & History Exploration by Monday, October 20th, by contacting VMF Education Coordinator Kathleen Beck at 760-518-3273 or VMFEducation@VolcanMt.org.
