CAN YOU HELP ON FRIDAY, JUNE 26TH FROM 9AM-2PM...OR ANY PART OF THAT TIME?

Volcan Mountain Foundation Resource Management Coordinator, Paul Cruz, is looking for a few good volunteers that aren’t afraid to roll up their sleeves and probably get dirty, to come out for a work party day on Friday, June 26th, and help with trail maintenance on the upper Sky Island Trail property and some tasks around VMF’s Volcan Mountain Nature Center. Of course, there’s always fun to be had too!

We’re looking for:
• 4-5 people to help with weed whacking that can also bring their own gas-powered trimmer
• 4-5 people to help with trail clearing—VMF has some large garden loppers, but if anyone has a pair or two they could bring that would be helpful
• 1-2 people that can help clear some larger obstacles with their gas-powered chain saw
• 1-2 people to spread wood chips

….MANY HANDS MAKE LIGHT WORK, SO ANYONE INTERESTED IS WELCOME!

We’re looking to develop a Volcan Trail Team that can take turns volunteering to walk the trails prior to groups visiting as part of VMF’s Education –Outreach activities and make sure they’re clear, and also help with quarterly trail maintenance work parties.

Come discover these incredible properties and see how wonderful it is to be out on the mountain, helping to keep it fire safe and the trails clear!

It’s always helpful to know ahead of time how many volunteers to expect. Please contact Nicole at the VMF office to let her know that you’re going to volunteer: (760) 765-2300 or admin@volcanmt.org. You can also reply via the Explore San Diego’s Backcountry Meetup page: 6/26/15 VMF-Volunteer Work Party Meetup Event Link

Paul will meet the volunteers at the main gate (the large gate at the very north end of Farmer Road) to VMF’s Volcan Mountain Nature Center (22850 Volcan Road, Julian, CA 92036) at 9am. If 9am does not work for you, please let Nicole know, so that she can make arrangements to have the gate opened.

Thank you to all you who give your time and talents to help protect and care for the Volcan Mountain Range!
