Saturday, September 23rd, Supporters of Volcan Mountain are invited to join the board and staff of the Volcan Mountain Foundation for an exclusive Supporter Appreciation Reception and tours of VMF's Volcan Mountain Nature Center. As a special treat for the evening-themed reception, VMF Board Member, Sharyl Massey will be joining us with a screech owl and a barn owl courtesy of Sky Hunters, with whom Sharyl also volunteers. Guests will get an up close meeting with these striking and seldom-seen residents of San Diego's oak and coniferous woodlands (screech owl) and coastal slopes (barn owl).

This free event for Supporters of Volcan Mountain runs from 2:30pm-4:30pm and includes:
- Light refreshments
- Screech & Barn Owl Meet 'n' Greet
- Tours of the Education Center and along the short trails of VMF's Volcan Mountain Nature Center
- Due to the venue size, we are limiting attendance to the first 35 Supporters and guests (limited to 3 people per Supporter invitation)

Full details (directions, parking, etc.) will be emailed with registration confirmations.

No worries, if you're not already a Supporter of Volcan Mountain. You can Click Here and Become a Supporter Now!

AFTER the Appreciation Reception, guests are invited to join us for a public sunset/night hike to the summit of the County's Volcan Mountain Wilderness Preserve. (County Parks staff are coordinating and leading the hike, not VMF). At the top, our friends from Curiosity Peak Observatory in Julian, and the Julian Dark Sky Network will be waiting with a variety of telescopes for a star-gazing party. There's a new moon (no moon) that night, so conditions will be perfect for viewing the stars and planets!

The hike will start at 5:00 pm from the Hubbell Gateway--a short drive back down the road from the VMF Nature Center. Visit www.VolcanMt.org/92317sunsetstarpartyhike for IMPORTANT information about where to meet and what to bring/wear for the public hike.

Please contact the Heise Park Ranger office for updates or more information on the sunset/night hike and star party, 760-765-4098.
