Wildcrafting: Herbal Salves, Sunday, April 23rd, 2017

Date:
Sunday, April 23, 2017 - 10:00am

Sunday, April 23rd come learn the art of wildcrafting and creating herbal salves at the Volcan Mountain Foundation's Volcan Mountain Nature Center at the headwaters of Santa Ysabel Creek in Julian.

VMF's Janice Smith will guide you on a short walk around VMF's Nature Center to identify and collect a variety of native plants, like horsetail, plantain (the herb, not the variety of banana!), chickweed, and nettle, and then teach you to how to infuse oil and make a simple herbal salve from the collected plants. Each participant will bring home a 2-ounce tin of some of the salve for your own home use.

Herba salves are ointments that can be used to sooth and moisturize your skin and lips, and are easy to make from the 'weeds' you have in your own backyard or garden. You'll also learn about the qualities of different plants that can help you customize herbal salves to suit your needs. Finally, you'll make and enjoy an herbal tea and taste some of the wild edible plants.

From 10am-1pm. Activity Fee is $20 per person. Click Here to Register and Pay no later than Saturday, April 22nd. (Registration closes at 6pm)

Space is limited to 12 participants--REGISTER NOW!
