Sunday, May 27th - Spring is finally here and the feeling of renewal is in the air!  To celebrate we thought it would be fun to pamper ourselves with a DIY wild and natural spa experience!

We will start with a walk around the nature center to identify and forage some of the native plants that we will use in making three unique DIY beauty products you can take home. We will also make a detox Nettle tea to sip while we craft wild Mountain Lilac soap, Horsetail Raw Sugar Scrub, and wild herbal bath salts. Finally, we will get really wild and make a rejuvenating native red clay honey mask from scratch. We will process local red clay and learn how to grind, sift, and mix it with other gentle ingredients and finally apply as a facial mask (if you wish). Come enjoy a rejuvenating wild and natural Spa Day with us!

Wildcrafting is the age-old practice of collecting or harvesting plants from their natural habitat, or “wild” habitat, for food, medicine or craft.  It applies to uncultivated plants wherever they might be found and is not necessarily limited to wilderness areas.  Ethical considerations and sustainable behaviors are practiced, such as protecting endangered species and avoiding potential depletion of commonly held resources. The practice of sustainable wildcrafting requires making a commitment to develop your knowledge and connection to the natural landscape, deepen your local sense of place, and take responsibility for its regeneration for future generations.
