Nature Education Series: It's All About Bugs - Saturday, September 7, 2019

Saturday, September 7 - Join Dr. Michael Wall for a presentation on the amazing world of insects. Afterward, we'll go on a guided walk to find insects and see them up close! You will learn about the unique life cycles, habitats, and adaptations of insects. You will also understand the reason insects are essential to the world.

Saturday, August 24th, join us for a very special Artists' Reception and Performance for VMF's 2019 Marjorie and Joseph Rubenson Endowment for Art and Science at Volcan Mountain award recipients. The event will feature the premiere performance of an original composition for harp by Christina Tourin and the visual art of Kaili Park as inspired by Volcan Mountain.

Volunteer: Trail Maintenance Day - Santa Ysabel Preserve East, Saturday, June 22, 2019

Saturday, June 22nd  Here's a chance for trail lovers to help keep the Santa Ysabel East Preserve beautiful and free of invasive, non-native plants. Learn which plants are invasive and what it means to habitats when those plants take over. Plan on an easy one-mile hike to the work area where we will remove non-native bull thistle, Sahara mustard, and black mustard from a seasonally marshy area just off the main trail. There are tasks for all levels. 

 

Nature Touch Table at Santa Ysabel Preserve East, Sunday, August 11, 2019

Sunday, August 11th: Join San Diego County Parks staff for a nature touch table experience where you can see and touch a series of items found in nature and where you can learn about them from Park Ranger Lorena! The table will be set up from 10am until 2pm in the staging area – a great place to stop before or after you hike. If you hike, be sure to bring plenty of water!

Nature Touch Table at Santa Ysabel Preserve West Sunday, July 14, 2019

Sunday, July 14th. From pelts to skulls, tracks, eggs, snake skins, and full size taxidermy, see what nature looks like up close. You'll also get the chance to learn more from a County park ranger! The table will be set up by at the Santa Ysabel West County Preserve staging arwa on Highway 78.

Sunday, June 16th: Celebrate dad and nature! Dad AND kids will enjoy a nature touch table experience for Father's Day. From pelts to skulls, tracks, eggs, snake skins, and full size taxidermy, see what nature looks like up close. You'll also get the chance to learn more from a County park ranger! The table will be set up by the Hubbell Gate at the Volcan Mountain Wilderness Preserve.
