Wild Blackberry Picking Hike-Saturday, August 12th at 8am--Santa Ysabel East

Date:
Saturday, August 12, 2017 - 8:00am

Saturday, August 12th at 8am join San Diego County Park rangers for a hike into a “closed to the public” area and to the rare White Alder Forest. Along the way, we will pick Blackberries. This will be an easy hike with a gentle downhill, following the creek for three miles and then back again for a total of six miles. It will be hot, but this is one of the shadiest hikes in the park. For those that want a shorter hike you could turn around at 1½ miles before we enter the closed area. Bring water, snacks, or just eat the Blackberries! A pair of gloves would be good because the thorns on the berry bushes can be nasty. Head net for bugs if you have one. Bring a tub or bucket, and let’s get our hands stained blue!

Meet at the Farmer Road Staging Area of Santa Ysabel Preserve East; 114-117 Farmer Road, Julian CA 92036.
