Family Hike and Dark Sky Star Party at Santa Ysabel Preserve West, Saturday, June 16th, 2018

Date:
Saturday, June 16, 2018 - 6:30pm

Saturday, June 16th, from 6:30pm to 10:30pm, join the Mountain-Borrego Preserves park staff, Curiosity Peak Observatory and Julian Dark Sky Network for a dark sky family-friendly evening hike followed by a star party. Meet at the Santa Ysabel Preserve West staging area (29313 Highway 78, Santa Ysabel,CA, 92070) at 6:30pm. We'll have different hike options from easy to moderate so you can select the hike that is best for you. Enjoy discussions about the history, plants and wildlife of the Preserve. Our friends from Curiosity Peak Observatory and the Julian Dark Sky Network will meet us at back at the parking area with a variety of telescopes for a star gazing party after the hike. Wear sturdy hiking shoes, and bring plenty of water. Even thought it's almost summer, please come prepared for a chiilly evening--seriously, June evenings can still be quite chilly. Please bring a flashlight and binoculars if you have them. This event will be canceled if it rains.
