Kanaka Flats Sunset and Full Moon Hike--Santa Ysabel Preserve East on Saturday, April 28th from 5:30 pm - 9:00 pm

Saturday, April 28, 2018 - 5:30pm

Saturday, April 28th - Join County Ranger Bill Augustus on a sunset hike in the Santa Ysabel East Preserve.  We will be hiking a section of the Coast to Crest Trail that leads up to Kanaka Flats.  Enjoy discussions about the history, plants and wildlife of the area and experience the Preserve after dark.  At the Kanaka summit, we will take time to enjoy the sunset and a view of the coast.  On our return, we will hike under a full moon. This is a slower paced hike so it is great for family’s and pets.  Dogs must be on a leash.

This hike will include an elevation gain and loss of approximately 1,000 feet in 1.5 miles.  The total hike distance will be approximately 7 miles.  Please dress in layers as the temperature will vary throughout the hike.  Wear sturdy hiking shoes, and bring plenty of water. Part of this hike will be in the dark so please bring a flashlight.

This hike will be cancelled if it rains.
