Volcan Summit Wildflower Hike, Sunday, April 30th, 2017, 9am-1pm

Date:
Sunday, April 30, 2017 - 9:00am

Sunday, April 30th at 9:00 am join Ranger Bobbi in search of spring blooms on Volcan Mountain.  You'll hike to the summit by way of the Five Oaks Trail, and come back down the original Volcan Trail. This is a strenuous 5.5 mile hike, with a 1,000' elevation gain, returning to the trailhead around 1pm. Along the way, Ranger Bobbi will talk about the many different flowers and birds that call this preserve home, and there are stunning views from 'sea to sea'--the Salton Sea and the Pacific Ocean--when you get to the summit.

Please dress in layers as the temperature will vary throughout the hike. Wear sturdy hiking shoes; bring water and a snack for the trail. Dogs are welcome but they need to be on a leash.

Meet at 9:00 am at the Volcan Mountain Wilderness Preserve trailhead on Farmer Road; 1209 Farmer Road, Julian CA 92036.  Inclement weather will cancel event.
