Sunday, August 30th, come learn the art of wildcrafting at the Volcan Mountain Foundation’s Volcan Mountain Nature Center at the headwaters of Santa Ysabel Creek in Julian. Wildcrafting is a term for the age-old practice of collecting plant materials in their natural habitat for food, medicine, and craft. Janice Bina-Smith and, VMF Education Coordinator, Kathleen Beck will teach an edible workshop using local berries in different ways. Janice and Kathleen are multi-talented outdoor educators and more, and love helping others to discover nature’s treasures. A later wildcrafting workshop in the fall will include our favorite local nut, the acorn.
Due to the gated entry for VMF’s Volcan Mountain Nature Center (22850 Volcan Road, Julian, CA), please RSVP to Nicole at VMF office by Friday, August 28th at 760-765-2300 or admin@volcanmt.org and plan to arrive between 9:45 and 9:55.
