The 2014 3rd Annual Julian Wild & Scenic Film Festival is this weekend, Friday, May 16th and Saturday, May 17th, with hikes offered on Sunday, May 18th.  Sponsored by and benefitting the Volcan Mountain Foundation, the two-day festival will offer environmentally-focused films, opportunities to meet with and learn from filmmakers, local food, music and art, discovery hikes on Volcan Mountain, and a beautiful weekend in Julian, California.  Please visit

Kids can carve their own pumpkin in time for Halloween fun! Come join San Diego County Park staff for a morning of fun, while enjoying the outdoors under the oaks. The park will provide a pumpkin and carving instrument, come early as supplies are limited. No personal carving tools are permitted. Meet at the Santa Ysabel East Farmer staging area.

Kids and adults alike will turn wood found in the preserve into a relaxing addition to any area of the home. Join San Diego County park staff as we create these calming instruments that make nature sing.
