We need nature NOW -- more than ever.

We have been reminded that nature is ESSENTIAL. You can help ensure that we have wild places like Volcan's forest, creeks and wildlands -- for ALL generations.

Forests clean our water. Forests clean our air. Forests protect us from disease. And forests provide a much-needed peaceful retreat.

Volcan's preserves and trails have been re-opened! We can again answer the mountains' call -- while safely observing physical distancing guidelines -- and practice the self-care that we all need.

In so many ways, COVID-19 has touched all of us -- nonprofits included.

If you are able to do so, please consider making a donation to the Volcan Mountain Foundation to help continue VMF's mission to protect Volcan's important wildlands and connected regional ecosystems.

If you prefer to make a Giving Tuesday gift in some other manner, please contact the VMF office at 760-765-2300.

As an added incentive, the recently-passed Coronavirus Aid, Relief & Economic Security (CARES) Act gives a benefit to anyone donating to a qualified nonprofit organization in 2020.

The Volcan Mountain Foundation is a registered 501(c)3 nonprofit public benefit corporation (EIN 33-0329894) – all of VMF’s donors who give in 2020 will benefit.

For the tax year 2020, anybody can claim an above-the-line deduction for charitable monetary gifts up to $300 – even if you don’t itemize deductions on your tax returns.

A recurring gift of $43 a month, starting in May and going through December, is $300!

We can quickly and easily set up an automatic recurring monthly gift on your bank card. Contact us at the VMF office: info@volcanmt.org or (760) 765-2300, and we’ll happily set that up!

For individuals who do itemize their deductions, the limit on deductions for contributions, ordinarily 50% of adjusted gross income (AGI) or 60% for cash, is suspended for 2020.

There are some exclusions, and we’re not tax experts at VMF. We always advise that you consult with your own tax advisor to determine your individual tax situation.

And by the way, the IRS tax filing and payment deadline has been extended to July 15, 2020 for your 2019 returns!
