The Volcan Mountains Are Calling -- Your Help is Needed to Raise $85,000 By April 3

Please make a donation today at VolcanMt.org/DonateNow

As we're welcoming Spring this past week, Mother Nature has been sending us a last few wintery reminders and much-needed precipitation.

Just over a week ago, the Volcan Mountain Foundation Board of Directors made the decision to postpone this year's Dinner Dance and Auction.  In the short time since, much has already changed.  VMF altered its staffing routines as part of our evolving response to the COVID-19 pandemic. For the safety of our employees, we have closed our office to public walk-ins.

Nature and wild, open spaces are needed perhaps now more than ever

VMF Ambassador Circle member and noted nature author, Richard Louv, recently shared the message of John de Pluma, MD, a board-certified internist and proponent of food-based health practices and nature therapy. Dr. de Pluma reminded us that, "your vitamin D level goes down," if you spend too much time indoors.

Louv's Children and Nature Network also reminded us that, in addition to a dose of Vitamin D, Vitamin N (N for Nature) time outside helps to reduce anxiety, depression and loneliness -- don't forget to keep a distance of at least 6 feet.

The mission of protecting and preserving the wildlands continues

The Volcan Mountain Foundation has just embarked on the acquisition of 23.4 acres that straddles two watersheds on the east side of Volcan at the Teofulio Summit. It rises to an elevation of over 4,000' and features an undisturbed, diverse chaparral plant community on its west and east-facing slopes that's home to abundant wildlife!

We need your help

Your help is critically needed in the next two weeks to help us raise $85,000 and acquire this ecologically-sensitive open space.
