Nature Education Series: Weather and Climate Change, Saturday, May 20, 2023

Join Alex Tardy for an incredible presentation on climate change. Topics that focus on California will include wildfires, extreme weather events, and changing precipitation patterns, to name a few. After the presentation, we will go on a 1 1/2 mile walk on VMF's Sky Island Trail. Those who don't want to hike can relax and explore the beautiful area at the beginning of the trail.

Alex Tardy is a Senior Meteorologist with the National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration's National Weather Service and National Ambassador of Weather-Ready Nation. He has worked with the National Weather Service since 1993 and is currently the Warning Coordination Meteorologist at the San Diego field office. He is in charge of weather preparedness, alerting and decision support services, including education and outreach. He has worked in six locations in the country, including Texas, Vermont, Virginia, and Utah.  

Date: Saturday, May 20

Time: 10:00 am - 2:30 pm. Due to the gated entry for VMF's Volcan Mountain Nature Center, please plan to arrive by 9:45 am.

Bring: Snacks, lunch, water. Please wear comfortable walking shoes and dress in layers. 

Cost: $10 per person.
