Shooting Stars and Hot Cocoa at Santa Ysabel West Preserve, Thursday, December 13, 2018

Thursday, December 13th, bring your family and friends for a magical mountain shooting-star party at the Santa Ysabel West Preserve! Bring your camp chairs and blankets to the clear skies of San Diego's backcountry on the peak night for viewing the Geminids meteor shower. County park rangers will set-up a free hot cocoa station and open the large staging area for this special late-night preserve experience.

Volunteer Stewardship Day Saturday, September 22, 2018

Saturday, September 22nd - Come to Volcan Mountain to help remove invasive plants, including Tree of Heaven and Bull Thistle. We'll also do some light plant trimming along our 1.5 mile Sky Island Trail. Conservation Chair, Sharyl Massey, is looking for a few good volunteers that aren't afraid to to roll up their sleeves and get dirty. Of course, there’s always fun to be had too!

Nature Touch Table at Santa Ysabel Preserve West Sunday, June 17th--Father's Day!

Sunday, June 17th celebrate dad and nature! Dad AND kids will enjoy a nature touch table experience for Father's Day. You can see and touch a series of items found in nature and where you can learn about them from a County park ranger! The table will be set up from 9am until 1pm in the staging area – a great place to stop before or after you hike.

Julian Natural Wonderfest, Saturday, August 11, 2018

Saturday, August 11th, from 3:00 pm - 11:00 pm, come experience the Julian Natural Wonderfest at Jess Martin Park (2955 Highway 79, Julian, CA 92036)!

This is a FREE family-friendly event, celebrating nature by day and night with animal ambassadors, games and activities, nature exhibits and presentations, music and camp songs, a star party and more. Come up early to Julian and take a family-friendly hike along Santa Ysabel Creek or tour the California Wolf Center.

Sunday, May 26th - Spring is finally here and the feeling of renewal is in the air!  To celebrate we thought it would be fun to pamper ourselves. 

Herbal salves and lip balms are ointments that can be used to sooth and moisturize your skin and lips and are easy to make from the fresh 'weeds' you have in your backyard or garden. You'll learn about the qualities of different plants that can help you customize herbal salves that you make to suit your needs.
